How To Apply Bed Bugs Spray

If you want to know how to apply bed bugs spray, you have come to the right place! Many people buy bed bug spray from Amazon or other specialty websites, but if you don’t know how to effectively apply the bed bug spray, you might not be able to eliminate your bed bug infestation. Working for a pest control company, I understand the treatment methods that the professionals use to treat for bed bugs, and I am going to give you some insight today about how you can apply bed bugs spray yourself!

Your first step in treating the bedroom for bed bugs is to buy enough bed bug spray for your room. One bottle of bed bugs spray might not be enough to effectively treat one room. You want to apply as much of this as possible, so you need to be sure to buy extra bed bug spray bottles to get the full effect. When you order your bed bugs spray, make sure you order several bottles to ensure you have enough

Next, you only want to use specific bottles of bed bugs spray. Do NOT apply five different brands of bed bug spray in your room. If you do this, some of the pesticides could interfere with each other, making the bed bugs spray treatment ineffective. Multiple types of spray could wind up canceling each other out!

Finally, clean out your room(s) before you start the treatment in the infested room(s). Wash all laundry at the hottest setting, and wash any other personal items as much as possible. Do not place your laundry or personal belongings back in the room(s) being treated until the treatment is completed and you can verify that the bed bugs are gone!

Dispose of the bed bug infested mattress as soon as possible, but do not leave it outside.

If you cannot afford to dispose of the mattress, get a mattress cover as soon as possible. Do not forget to pull down picture frames during treatment. Do not apply bed bug sprays on the infested mattress.

Now it is time to get down to the practical application of the bed bugs spray. Start applying the spray in the baseboard areas and under carpets as necessary. I would start on the end of the room that is opposite from the doorway, so that you end your treatment at the doorway. You want to treat every nook and cranny where bed bugs can come in. Treat any areas where there appear to be cracks that could allow entry for bed bugs. Bed bugs can live under carpet and in walls easily, so you want to do a complete treatment. Treat windowsills, electrical sockets, and light fixtures. Treat the areas where curtains hang. Treat the areas around the bed more thoroughly. Treat the area along the wall where the headboard normally lies very well. Most importantly, treat the box spring as well. Do not be afraid to tear off the box spring cover and spray under the box spring. Bed bugs will likely be found here. In addition, treat all furniture for bed bugs. Bed bugs are commonly found hanging out in the furniture. When treating windowsills, make sure you treat the area where the curtains are attached. You also want to treat the closets. If a bathroom is attached to the affected room, I strongly suggest you treat this room too. Continue to treat all baseboards and under carpets around the perimeter of the room until you get to the doorway.

After the treatment is completed, take a sticky glue board and place on the floor in the room. You can buy these glue boards at Lowe’s or Home Depot. If you do not catch anything in the glue board, there is a chance that you have eliminated the bed bug infestation. I cannot guarantee that the bed bugs are gone, but even if they are not gone, you have certainly decimated the bed bug population! After completing the treatment, wait two weeks before moving back into the room. During that two weeks, monitor the room daily for additional bed bugs. If you see even one live bed bug after treatment, you need to treat the room again! Continue to do this until you have no signs of bed bugs for at least two weeks, and then you can move everything back into your room.

Keep in mind that getting rid of bedbugs is not just a battle, but it is a war! You could have multiple “battles” with the bed bugs, but you can get rid of bed bugs with the right attitude and right treatment methods! Be sure to read all of my bed bug articles right here at Hubpages. I am currently reviewing the bed bug sprays and will make my official bed bug spray recommendations soon!

Please note that my recommendations are not going to get rid of all bed bug infestations.  In fact, I still recommend hiring an exterminator to get rid of bed bugs.  All of my recommendations are really for those people who can't afford to spend thousands of dollars on professional exterminators to get rid of bed bugs.  Exterminators know how to get rid of bedbugs, and they are your only option in more severe bed bug infestations!
